00:13:51 --> 00:13:54 it's sled for launch a SpaceX Starship

00:13:57 --> 00:13:58 designed to be launched in one go on a
00:13:58 --> 00:14:00 sing Le flight and includes a large
00:14:00 --> 00:14:02 habitation and laboratory module where
00:14:02 --> 00:14:04 astronauts will spend most of their time
00:14:04 --> 00:14:06 living and working and a smaller service
00:14:06 --> 00:14:09 module for power and propulsion this
00:14:09 --> 00:14:10 project's already passed a number of key
00:14:10 --> 00:14:13 developmental Milestones these include
00:14:13 --> 00:14:15 reviews of the habitat structural test
00:14:15 --> 00:14:17 article preliminary Design Systems
00:14:17 --> 00:14:19 integration integrated operations and a
00:14:19 --> 00:14:22 habitat structural test plan now earlier
00:14:22 --> 00:14:25 this year star laab space supported by
00:14:25 --> 00:14:27 NASA completed a structural test article
00:14:27 --> 00:14:30 preliminary design review the structural
00:14:30 --> 00:14:32 test article is an actual physical model
00:14:32 --> 00:14:35 used to test and verify the design styab
00:14:35 --> 00:14:37 also recently shared a test plan for the
00:14:37 --> 00:14:39 structural test article this included
00:14:40 --> 00:14:41 defining qualification tests for the
00:14:41 --> 00:14:43 development of the unit ranging from
00:14:43 --> 00:14:45 welding verifications to proof pressure
00:14:45 --> 00:14:47 and static load testing it also
00:14:47 --> 00:14:49 completed integrated operations and
00:14:49 --> 00:14:51 systems integration reviews including
00:14:51 --> 00:14:53 updates on system and station
00:14:53 --> 00:14:56 architecture and segment interfaces now
00:14:56 --> 00:14:58 this review is meant to demonstrate that
00:14:58 --> 00:14:59 the station's Des design meets the
00:14:59 --> 00:15:02 requirements of NASA including those
00:15:02 --> 00:15:04 needed for human space flight
00:15:04 --> 00:15:07 verification but star laab isn't alone
00:15:07 --> 00:15:09 other commercial space stations now
00:15:09 --> 00:15:10 either in the planning or development
00:15:10 --> 00:15:13 stages include axion's modulus space
00:15:13 --> 00:15:14 station which will initially be docked
00:15:14 --> 00:15:16 to the International Space Station
00:15:16 --> 00:15:18 before eventually moving into its own
00:15:18 --> 00:15:20 orbit when the ISS is finally
00:15:20 --> 00:15:23 decommissioned and deorbited and this
00:15:23 --> 00:15:25 week axium space modified its planned
00:15:25 --> 00:15:27 assembly sequence in order to accelerate
00:15:27 --> 00:15:29 its ability to operate the space station
00:15:29 --> 00:15:32 as a viable free flying complex thereby
00:15:32 --> 00:15:33 reducing its Reliance on the
00:15:33 --> 00:15:35 International Space Station during
00:15:35 --> 00:15:37 assembly the initial axium plan was to
00:15:38 --> 00:15:39 launch and attach the first module
00:15:39 --> 00:15:41 habitat 1 to the International Space
00:15:41 --> 00:15:43 Station followed by three additional
00:15:43 --> 00:15:45 modules but under the company's new
00:15:45 --> 00:15:47 assembly sequence a payload power and
00:15:47 --> 00:15:49 thermal module will be launched to the
00:15:49 --> 00:15:51 orbiting Laboratory first allowing it to
00:15:52 --> 00:15:55 depart from the ISS as early as 2028
00:15:55 --> 00:15:57 becoming a free flying destination to be
00:15:57 --> 00:16:00 known as axium station now once in Free
00:16:00 --> 00:16:02 Flight axium space will continue
00:16:02 --> 00:16:04 assembly of the commercial destination
00:16:04 --> 00:16:07 adding the habitat 1 module and airlock
00:16:07 --> 00:16:09 the habitat 2 module and the research
00:16:09 --> 00:16:11 and Manufacturing facility but as well
00:16:11 --> 00:16:13 as styab and axium station there are
00:16:13 --> 00:16:15 also other proposals out there some of
00:16:15 --> 00:16:18 which are fairly Advanced one of them is
00:16:18 --> 00:16:20 orbital Reef it's being designed by Blue
00:16:20 --> 00:16:22 origin and Sierra space both for
00:16:22 --> 00:16:24 commercial space activities and research
00:16:24 --> 00:16:27 and for space tourism it'll be designed
00:16:27 --> 00:16:29 to support at least 10 people at a time
00:16:29 --> 00:16:31 in multiple accommodation research
00:16:31 --> 00:16:33 modules and should be operational by
00:16:33 --> 00:16:36 2027 another proposal is Haven 1 which
00:16:36 --> 00:16:38 is slated for launch in August next year
00:16:38 --> 00:16:42 a SpaceX Falcon 9 it'll house a
00:16:42 --> 00:16:44 micro gravity research facility and
00:16:44 --> 00:16:47 Manufacturing platform however it's
00:16:47 --> 00:16:49 designed to only operate when a dragon
00:16:49 --> 00:16:51 capsu is stocked to it that's because
00:16:51 --> 00:16:52 the dragon will be needed to supply
00:16:52 --> 00:16:55 power and life support and of course
00:16:55 --> 00:16:57 then there's the Bigalow Aerospace
00:16:57 --> 00:16:59 expandable activity module and it's
00:16:59 --> 00:17:00 already up there attached to the
00:17:00 --> 00:17:02 International Space Station it's an
00:17:02 --> 00:17:04 inflatable module which was docked to
00:17:04 --> 00:17:07 the space station back in 2016 what was
00:17:07 --> 00:17:10 meant to be a 2-year experimental test
00:17:10 --> 00:17:11 however it's proven to be so reliable
00:17:11 --> 00:17:13 and so useful it's well and truly
00:17:13 --> 00:17:16 exceeded all expectations and it's now
00:17:16 --> 00:17:18 remaining attached to the space station
00:17:18 --> 00:17:20 as additional cargo storage until at
00:17:20 --> 00:17:21 least
00:17:21 --> 00:17:23 2028 unfortunately that's more than can
00:17:23 --> 00:17:26 be said for the Bigalow company itself
00:17:26 --> 00:17:30 sadly it's since been dissolved this is

00:21:41 --> 00:21:43 would just have taken that at face value
